June 2nd Contradance

Our June contradance will be on Friday June 2nd and we're back at the Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown. The band for this dance will be Uncle Joe & the Rosebud Ramblers and the caller will be Ted Crane.

Uncle Joe & the Rosebud Ramblers is a band which comes to us from Ithaca. For this dance, the band members will be Joe Chicone on banjo, fiddler Renee Baum, Robin Ploss on bass, Alice Ploss providing rhythm and their newest member Cap Cooke playing guitar. They play a mix of energetic old time tunes, lively up tempo New England fiddle tunes and traditional folk songs. And many of the band members add their vocal skills to provide a great fun-filled evening!

Ted has been a contradance caller in the Ithaca area since 1979 as well as playing bodhran (a Celtic frame drum) with several bands during that time. In addition to organizing many contradance events, he is well known for his dance database, a main Internet reference for national dance scheduling. With Ted's vast experience, he'll be calling a lively program of traditional, contemporary, and original contras and an occasion square or circle dance.

This is our last dance before we break for the summer, so try to join us!
